About
Veda is an artist based in Hong Kong. She graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Art History), Hons in 2012; she lived in the UK prior to her university education and worked briefly in Germany. The animal and botanical subjects in her work are references drawn from her extensive travels. Veda works primarily with watercolour and thread on paper; she paints the beautiful flora and fauna with realism in mind and sews rapidly and intuitively with the help of a sewing machine, allowing the medium to dictate and form intricate lines in the background of her work. Those lines/threads represent the sometimes overwhelming stress she experiences living in the city. Her botanical paintings are re-imagined places where a sense of calm is interwoven with underlying distractions. Her art embodies a timeless quality and provides a glimpse of fleeting tranquility.
Veda is self-represented and over the past few years has been invited to show her paintings regularly at Foodpanda Taiwan’s head office, and the painting “Hungry Panda” is now a part of their permeant collection. Previous commissioned projects included art installations & paintings for a German gourmet store and a café in Berlin.
